Details

A car capsule is a really helpful way to get around with your baby. A safe place for them to rest when you’re driving, when you park, you can take it out and carry your baby without interrupting their sleep to your next location, or attach it to your compatible pram.

You can use the Britax Safe-n-Sound Unity ISOFIX Compatible Capsule from newborn up to 12 months of age or when your baby hits the height requirements (whichever comes first). It has been uniquely designed and tested for use with low birth weight and premature infants without restrictive medical conditions.

The Unity has EPS foam and high side walls offering maximum side impact protection and the ISOFLEX™ connectors allow direct connection to the car’s ISOFIX low anchorage points guaranteeing an easier installation, precise fit, and a secure journey with every ride by reducing the chances of incorrect installation. The ISOFIX system ‘clicks’ onto the vehicle seat rather than using the car seat belt and adjusting to the correct tension, this greatly reduces the chances of incorrect installation. It goes without saying that no matter the installation method, a correctly installed car seat is much safer than an incorrectly installed car seat.

Covered in Thermo5® high-performance knitted Bamboo/ Charcoal fabric, that is soft to the touch, the design provides airflow and wicks moisture away, keeping your baby cool, dry, and comfortable. The compact design makes it ideal for small cars and allows for easy configuration with other seats. The Unity is fitted with an integrated stabilising bar ensuring that the capsule does not rotate in the event of a crash and includes an insert, shoulder pads, and crotch pad for additional support.

When using your Unity capsule with your pram we love the large sun canopy, providing ample protection while you're out and about. Traveling on a plane? The carrier section (without the base) is suitable to use on an aircraft.

3 Questions to Find a Car Seat

Do I need a car seat or a capsule?

Car capsules are used from newborn until around 12 months. Most car seats can be used from newborn to age 4. Capsules have the advantage of being able to be taken in and out of the car without disturbing your baby (who often fall asleep on rides), but you’ll get more mileage out of a car seat. If and when you leave the house, it’s most often in a car, and you’ll be in and out a lot in your baby’s first year, the capsule might be the right choice for you. If you’re more likely to be on foot or public transport through the week and only use the car for bigger trips, a car seat may be all you need.

How will it work with your car?

Your car type and size is the main consideration in choosing a car seat. A bigger car seat may restrict the amount of legroom you get in the front seat, or how many car seats will fit across the back seat (if you’re accommodating multiple kids) and some designs are easier to use depending if your car is higher or lower. There is also the consideration of whether you’ll install via ISOFix or the seatbelt.

How will it work with your lifestyle?

If you are choosing a capsule, check it can be connected to your pram. You also want to make sure it’s comfortable for you to carry (some are lighter than others) and for both car seats and capsules, ensure you find the mechanisms for clicking your baby in, and adjusting the headrest and shoulder heights, easy to do.

Britax provides a Limited Warranty and an Extended Warranty for its 'Safe-n-Sound' range of products (when registered).

2 years on soft goods supplied with your Safe-n-Sound car seat at the time of purchase (including accessories).

Extended Warranty
Once you have registered your product with Britax, your extended warranty includes an additional 5 years on Safe-n-Sound car seat moulding, harness and fittings (10 years in total).

As your Safe-n-Sound car seat features Thermo5™, you will receive an additional 3 years warranty on soft goods (5 years in total).
