If you’re worried about speaking up during a vaginal delivery, this is when you should lean on your support person or when you might benefit from having a birth plan.

You’re in the care of wonderful medical professionals but remember that it’s your body, your baby and your birth. If you feel uncomfortable at any point or if you feel as though you don’t understand the terminology being used or the ‘plan of attack,’ this is when you need to advocate for yourself.

Think of it this way, if you stand up for yourself and make your wishes or your questions known, even if your desired outcome doesn’t actuate, your postpartum experience is likely to feel more positive, knowing you used your voice and had some level of control.
